What’s up with the USMNT fanbase?

SoFi Stadium and Hollywood Park has a capacity of about 70,000. I can’t see the whole image, but, eyeballing this, I’d put attendance at no more than ten thousand.

Stadiums this empty only happen because nobody did anything to avoid it. They didn’t even bother to “dress” the crowd by moving people into more central areas.

No one has a plan for growing the audience of the US Men’s National team right now. Or if they do, it’s not working at all.

The reason you should listen when I say this is that I’ve marketed more than 2,000,000 live events in my career. I know all the patterns.

This one is either neglect or incompetence, and chances are, it’s a combination of both. That’s a strong statement, and I don’t like making it. In fact, it makes me a little sick to say it. I’ve been involved in one way or another in American soccer for decades, so I care. I want this to go the right way.

I care enough to say that it’s not. I’ve helped a lot of organizations grow and keep their audiences, so I know how this works.

There is no competent hand on the wheel right now in growing the audience for the USMNT.
